What are lip boosters & fillers?

They’re a type of dermal filler that consist of synthetic Hyaluronic Acid and Boosters which are 100% HA — HA is a natural substance in your body. There are many different brands of lip fillers & boosters and following your consultation, the brand best suited to your needs will be selected. Choosing the correct product is a personal decision and many women who have these want to increase or enhance their lip or simply add definition:

• Restoring a previous lip size. As you age, your lips may get smaller or thinner, your philtrum (the groove between your upper lip and nose) may get longer and flatter and the distance between the corners of your mouth (intercommissural distance) may increase.
• Correcting the symmetry of your lips. It’s common for your lips to be asymmetrical.
• Boosting confidence. They canhelp improve your self-esteem and body image.

Why are boosters & fillers used?

Lip fillers restore or add volume to your lips. They don’t stop the aging process, but they might help delay the need for a more invasive surgical augmentation like lip implants which can sometimes be required if left too late. They can also help you achieve a natural or desired look, which boosts self esteem.

How long do lip fillers last?

Lip fillers typically last 12 to 18 months. However, it depends on your age and how fast your body breaks down calories into energy (metabolism) this directly effects how long the filler lasts. Younger Women tend to burn calories faster as opposed to more Mature Women.

Procedure Details

What happens before a lip treatment?

Before your lip treatment, you’ll meet with Maxine privately to discuss your expectations. She will assess many factors, including the current physical condition of your lips and what is achievable, current level of hydration (or dehydration!), and any medical conditions or medications.

During your lip enhancement, we will apply a topical anaesthetic to your lips. The topical anaesthetic will numb your lips so you won’t feel pain and the process is as comfortable as possible. We will then use a thin needle to inject the product into any or all parts of your lips, including the edges of your lips (vermillion border), the curve in the centre of your upper lip (Cupid’s bow) and your oral commissures (corners of your mouth). You won’t feel any pain, but you may feel a pinching pressure sensation. On average, for a natural look 1 milliliter is used in your lips, which is about one-fifth of a teaspoon. The needle won’t go deeper than 2.5 mm into your skin.

What happens after a lip filler procedure?

After the treatment is complete, gentle massage is applied to your lips so that they absorb the product, ice packs may be used as well. Whilst Maxine does endeavour to minimise any trauma to your lips, they may be swollen, sensitive and rarely bruised. Swelling usually goes away after 24 hours. The following tips will help your lips as they heal:

• Apply an ice pack for up to 10 minutes to reduce inflammation, pain and swelling.
• Avoid wearing lipstick, lip balm or any other product on your lips for at least 24 hours.
• Refrain from touching or puckering your lips, including kissing and sipping from a straw.
• Avoid exercising and sun beds for at least 24 hours.
